PSG parted ways with Marco Verratti, Lionel Messi, and Neymar last summer, a bold move considering the players wanted to stay.
Jérôme Rothen confirms that Verratti, Messi, and Neymar wanted to remain at PSG this season. However, Paris had a different idea and wanted a complete overhaul. “Nasser Al-Khelaïfi made some bold decisions, really bold decisions. Some players had already re-signed, like Verratti, and he showed them the door. The same goes for Neymar and Messi… They all wanted to stay,” he revealed in an interview with Colinterview.
Neymar was eventually sold to Saudi Arabia, Marco Verratti ended up in Qatar, and Lionel Messi signed with Inter Miami… where he’s already on vacation.
