Nicolas Pépé was released by Arsenal a few days ago, marking a significant disappointment for a player who was acquired for €80 million in 2019, setting a transfer record for Arsenal at the time.
Pépé was allowed to join Trabzonspor as a free agent this summer, a decision that was approved by Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta.
Arteta commented on the situation, stating, « I wasn’t involved in those discussions. What I can say is that Nicolas was a fantastic individual who worked hard and gave his best. He’s not responsible for the transfer fee paid for him. When things aren’t working out, it’s best to move on. There’s no sense in persevering when it’s not working for anyone, so I think it was the best solution for both parties, » explained the Arsenal manager.
