Mohamed Salah, the 31-year-old Egyptian star from Liverpool, has revealed an unusual passion outside the football field.

The Pharaoh is addicted to chess, as he shared in an interview with Sky Sports. This revelation showcases a different aspect of the talented footballer’s personality, excelling in the strategic and intellectual world of chess.

“I literally play chess every day; I’m addicted. I don’t use my name but a username. I put my name followed by a few numbers. They ask me if I’m Mohamed Salah, and I say yes, but they don’t believe me. ‘You’re lying,’ they tell me.”

“Then I end up saying, ‘Okay, I’m lying.’ I’m not as good as Magnus Carlsen (a chess champion he dreams of meeting, note), but I’m doing well. No one stands a chance against him, but I hope we can play someday.”
