Jürgen Klopp, following his departure from Liverpool, has been appointed as the Global Football Director for the Red Bull group starting January 1, 2025, much to everyone’s surprise.
Originally expected to stay away from football, Klopp has made a significant return just weeks after leaving Liverpool. He will oversee football operations at Red Bull, which includes clubs like RB Leipzig and the acquisition of Paris FC.
For this role, he will earn an annual salary ranging between €10 million and €12 million. While this is impressive, it’s actually half of what he earned at Liverpool.
This decision has sparked criticism in Germany, where some are concerned about his association with a multinational company after having managed prestigious clubs.
In his new role, Klopp will advise various clubs within the Red Bull empire, while also retaining an exit clause that could allow him to succeed Julian Nagelsmann as the head coach of the German national team.
