Germany Seeks to Naturalize Mathys Tel for Their National Team

Mathys Tel’s outstanding performances at Bayern Munich have piqued the interest of the German Football Federation (DFB).

The DFB’s sporting director, Rudi Völler, has expressed a desire to naturalize the French striker in the hope of seeing him play for the German national team. This move aims to attract a promising talent from the French national team to Germany.

Rudi Völler stated, “We will certainly try to naturalize him, but in the end, it’s the player himself who decides, and, of course, his family. That should not be underestimated. His roots are very French. We all know that we don’t have many high-level attackers in Germany. We need to make the most of it.”

Mathys Tel was recently called up by Thierry Henry to represent the French U21 team, and his goal remains to play for the French national team. He said, “The French national team is in my mind because it’s my nation and my country. I’d like to get some minutes there, but it’s important to be patient. I need to grow, and when I’m called up, I’ll be happy.” Germany will attempt to convince him to change his mind.
